Myanmar Airways International launches Chennai-Yangon direct flights

Private airline Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has commenced direct non-stop flights between Chennai and Yangon, boosting connectivity between the two countries, the airliner said on Sunday. An Embraer E190LR aircraft would be operated between the two cities, with Chennai being the latest city to be served by MAI after Delhi, Kolkata and Gaya.On its arrival at Chennai airport on Saturday, the maiden flight was welcomed with a traditional water salute by officials of the Airports Authority of India, among others, a press release said.

If any action is taken against protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, various farmer activists and khap representatives might block the highways leading to the national capital, Chandigarh and Punjab, warned unionists.On Saturday, farmers and khap representatives marked several points in Haryana to block highways leading to Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab if action is taken at Jantar Mantar.Khap panchayats and farmers also started a sit-in protest at Danoda village, where they will take over roads leading to Chandigarh, Hisar, Rajasthan and other routes. Farmers also marked a point at Uchana town, which falls on the Jind-Patiala national highway and connects Punjab and Delhi.The Kandela and Majra khaps of Jind district also planned to block the national and state highways if any action is taken against the wrestlers. COVID-19: India logs 2,380 fresh Covid cases

India on Sunday logged 2,380 fresh COVID-19 infections, while the number of active cases came down to 27,212 from 30,041 the day before, according to Union health ministry data. With the fresh cases, the COVID-19 tally increased to 4.49 crore (4,49,69,630). The death toll climbed to 5,31,659 with 15 fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.At 27,212, the active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, the ministry said.The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,44,10,738, while the case fatality rate stood at 1.18 per cent.According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
