While Android phones have shifted to punch-hole displays, Apple stuck to its notch design—until now. However, that might soon become a thing of the past as the iPhone 16 is expected to bring a host of changes, some of which will be visible in the way the phone’s notch is designed.
Rumor has it that Apple is toying with the idea of giving the iPhone 16 Pro a punch-hole display. According to a source known as Majin Bu on X, Apple is testing a punch-hole version for the iPhone 16 Pro. However, this might not be the final design. The tipster has promised to provide clearer and better details only by March next year. Notably, Apple releases its phones in the month of September. This year too, Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 series, which included the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It’s a bit surprising since Apple introduced the Dynamic Island display in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 series, making a big deal about it. The Dynamic Island display swapped the notch for a more extensive screen and a smarter way of doing things. It’s got this neat pill-shaped cutout showing alerts and ongoing stuff.
But here’s the catch: the punch-hole display might not show up until the iPhone 17 series. So, this test for the iPhone 16 Pro could just be a peek into the future.
Also, there’s gossip about the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max getting larger displays than the iPhone 15 Pro models. Loads of leaks are floating around about the next iPhones, but nothing’s set in stone yet. Apple’s gearing up for the next iPhone lineup, reportedly having four models in the works: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
All these rumors and whispers are giving us a sneak peek into what Apple might have up its sleeve for future iPhones. But until Apple makes it official, let’s keep our eyes peeled for more exciting updates!
