Panaji: Social activists and environmentalists fighting for the cause of tigers and the Mhadei wildlife sanctuary on Tuesday said that the matter of notifying a tiger reserve should’ve been raised in front of Amit Shah when he was visiting Goa, last week.
Rajan Ghate said that the tiger is Goa’s rakhandar (watchful protector) and the issue of environmentalism is not only limited to the people that live near forest areas.
“Save Mhadei River Tiger reserve is must and the best way to find a solution to the matter was by having a discourse with Shah. Without a tiger reserve, the entire ecosystem around the Mhadei will collapse. There is be no identity of Goa left if the ecosystem is destroyed,” he said.
