Delhi News Live Updates Today: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually laid the foundation stone of Delhi University’s three buildings. He was felicitated by Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh. On his way to DU, Modi took the metro and interacted with students. The three buildings are for the Faculty of Technology, a computer centre and an academic block. The PM also released two coffee table books. Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan also spoke during ceremony.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicates that light rainfall or thundershowers are set to continue over the next six days in the capital. Bringing respite to scorching heat, heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday. Also, waterlogging was reported from various stretches in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
Meanwhile, Atishi will take additional charge of Finance and Revenue departments after L-G VK Saxena approved the reshuffle in the Cabinet and sent the proposal by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal back to the Government. With this, Atishi is now in charge of 12 departments, including education and power. Earlier, government sources had alleged that L-G VK Saxena was sitting on a file related to a major reshuffle in the Delhi Cabinet that the AAP government wanted to bring to effect for the last four days.

The new convention centre at Pragati Maidan, which is scheduled to host the G20 Leaders’ Summit in September, was designed keeping in mind a range of threats, including terrorism; high levels of crime against women; social and communal unrest in Old Delhi; protests outside the BJP and Congress headquarters; and poor road infrastructure, according to a risk assessment report of the project accessed by The Indian Express through Right to Information.
