PILIBHIT: A day after a 30-year-old man was injured by a leopard in a sugarcane field, a feline attacked a 17-year-old boy identified as Pawan Kumar in a cane field in Ramnagaria village of Pilibhit district on Wednesday morning.
The victim received minor injuries in the incident and was admitted to the local primary health centre for treatment.
The incident occurred when he went to work in a sugarcane field next to Gajraula-Mala road near the Mala forest range of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve around 8 am, when a stray leopard lurking in the field attacked him. Kumar said, “I sustained a few injuries on my thighs and legs in the attack. I was rescued by two labourers working nearby who scared the animal away by waving their hands and making loud noises.” Piyush Mohan Shrivastav, range officer of the forest and wildlife division, inspected the spot along with the field forest force. Earlier on Tuesday, Vijay Pal, a marginal farmer, suffered critical injuries on his head in a leopard attack in Rampura village.
