The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission at Khar in Mumbai has completed hundred years. As part of the centenary celebrations, the organisation founded by Swami Vivekananda will hold a series of programmes beginning Friday.

“To celebrate the centenary, the organisation has organised a year-long programme beginning with the inaugural function to be held from April 21 to 23,” RKM president Swami Satyadevananda said.

A special souvenir to commemorate the illustrious journey of hundred years will be released by Swami Gautamananda Maharaj, vice-president of RKM Belur. The programme will be held at the Rangsharda Auditorium in Bandra (West) on Friday and Sunday, whereas the Saturday programme will be held at RKM Khar.

The highlight of the celebrations will be a three-day discourse by Swami Sarvapriyananda, minister-in-charge of Vedanta Society, New York, on April 24, 25 and 26. The talks will be held at 6.30pm onwards at the St Andrew’s Auditorium in Bandra (West).

The day-long sessions from April 21 to 23 will also see senior RKM monks from various parts of India deliver a series of talks.

On Friday, Swami Muktidananda, president of the Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram, will deliver a talk on the spiritual strength and universal appeal of the Ramakrishna movement. Swami Atmapriyananda, pro-chancellor of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational Research Institute, Belur Math, will talk on the “Ramakrishna ideal according to Swami Vivekananda”.
