Lenovo-owned Motorola is set to expand its foldable smartphone portfolio. The Chinese smartphone maker has neither mentioned the exact launch date nor has it confirmed the name of the upcoming smartphone. Lenovo’s General Manager of the Phone Business Department, Chen Jin has shared a teaser video of the Moto Razr 2023 on the microblogging platform Weibo. The teaser video reveals the design details of the upcoming foldable smartphone.

Rumours suggest that the foldable smartphone may have two names for two different markets. In some markets, the smartphone may be called the Moto Razr+ 2023 while in other locations that foldable smartphone may be known as the Moto Razr 40 Ultra. The smartphone will succeed the Moto Razr 2022 model which was launched in 2021. Motorola is expected to launch this foldable phone on June 1 in Madrid, Spain.

What to expect

The teaser video has revealed the rear panel of the upcoming Motorola Razr 2023 smartphone. The video also confirms that the foldable phone will come with a large secondary display. The horizontally placed cover display is expected to measure 3.7 inches and will be placed on the back panel.
Moto Razr 2023’s cover display is likely to look similar to that of the recently unveiled Vivo X Flip smartphone which sports a 3-inch outer screen. The Motorola Razr’s secondary display will be located below the two camera sensors which are placed on the top left corner of the back panel. The foldable phone will have the volume rocker and power buttons on the right spine.

Apart from the teaser, the Lenovo executive has also mentioned that the upcoming Motorola foldable smartphone will feature “a large external screen and a high refresh rate.” However, the report doesn’t mention the refresh rate that the panel will support. The company also hasn’t mentioned which display (main or cover) will support a higher refresh rate. To compare, the Motorola Razr 2022 model houses a 2.7-inch secondary display.

Moreover, the foldable smartphone is also expected to come powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and is likely to pack 12GB of RAM. This smartphone is also expected to pack a 3,640mAh battery unit that may support 33W fast charging.
