Looks like the Internet is least bothered about Twitter blue ticks. Seen the post yet?

New Delhi,UPDATED: Apr 20, 2023 22:29 IST

By Srimoyee Chowdhury: After acquiring Twitter for a whopping amount, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took a series of eccentric decisions and fired some of the top executives from the company. Along with that, he also introduced a new subscription model where a Twitter user could buy a blue tick and enjoy some privileges on the micro-blogging site.

Having a blue tick on Twitter indicated that the person was verified in their field and the posts shared by them had significance. However, after the subscription model, a lot of people with few followers could boast of having a blue tick. Within a few months, the luster and exclusivity of having a blue tick diminished drastically.

Now, Twitter has shared a notice specifying that all the users who didn’t pay the verification fee will lose their blue ticks from April 20. “Tomorrow, 4/20, we are removing legacy verified checkmarks,” read the first part of the tweet.

You would think that the post would create panic among netizens and they would make a bee-line for the verification process and submit the fees. But the scenario is completely different. People have lost interest in the special feature after it was given to every Tom, Dick and Harry online who could spare money.

From calling out Elon Musk’s ideologies to asking Twitter to remove their blue ticks, people reacted quite hilariously. Even Hollywood actor Halle Berry shared a GIF and claimed that she will be joining her fans as an unverified individual as well.

Here’s how others reacted:
