guarantee the promises will be implemented in first cabinet meet on 1st day of govt formation,” said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Here are a few things that the party has promised in its manifesto:
- To consider extension of the Old Pension Scheme.
- To constitute social harmony panels at panchayats
- To provide an allowance of Rs 5,000 to cops on night duty.
- To repeal Anti-People laws brought by BJP.
- 200 units of free power under Gruha Jyothi initiative.
- Anna Bhagya offers 10kg food grains.
- After PFI, the party has promised banning Bajrang Dal.
As per the manifesto, party’s Yuva Nidhi initiative will provide a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 to unemployed graduates and Rs 1,500 to unemployed diploma holders. The Shakti scheme, mentioned in the manifesto, will provide free travel to all women throughout state in regular KSRTC/BMTC buses.
“We believe that law and Constitution is sacrosanct and can not be violated by individuals and Organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities. We will take decisive action as per law including imposing a ban on any such organisations,” Congress’ manifesto stated.
“Congress party is committed to increase reservation for SC’s from 15% to 17%, for ST’s 3% to 7%, and restore minority reservation 4% and increase reservations Lingayat’s, Vokkaliggas’s and other communities and to pursue for inclusion in the 9 Schedule of the Constitution,” said Congress party in its manifesto.It has also promised to provide 500 litres of tax-free diesel every year for deep sea fishing and to provide Rs 6,000 to all marine fishermen as a lean period allowance during the fishing holiday also to purchase cow dung at Rs3 per kg and establish compost/manure centres in villages involving rural women/Youth.
In order to provide a boost to the education sector, the party said it will form a State Education Policy to reject the National Education Policy (NEP), if it forms government in the state.
“Congress manifesto focuses on how to generate employment, empower the women, eradicate poverty and how to hold the hands of farmers,” said Congress leader Gaurav Vallabh.
The 224-seat Karnataka Assembly is scheduled for polls on May 10 with counting of votes on May 13, 2023.
