Kajol Feels Only Films Like Wonder Woman For India Could Bring Pay Equality In Industry

Kajol , who has delivered several big hits in her 30-year-long career, finally opened up about pay parity in the industry. The actress was in Delhi yesterday to attend the Jagran Film Festival 2023, where she opened up about pay parity in showbiz. As we all know, female actors get less remuneration than male actors in the film industry. When asked if it would be achieved in the industry any time soon, Kajol gave a strong reply.

Kajol said that films like Wonder Woman should be made for an Indian audience. She feels that such films could work in the country, like Shah Rukh Khan ’s Pathaan. She said, “India is progressing. They watch a lot of different types of cinema thanks to social media and OTT. We are thinking better, hoping for better. When you start making a Wonder Woman (which starred Gal Gadot) for India and it does equally well as a Pathaan, then maybe there will be pay equality.”

Why did she say NO to Dil Se?

Kajol has always confessed that she is a big Mani Ratnam fan. In fact, she had the opportunity to work with him on Dil Se. Mani Ratnam had offered her Manisha Koirala’s role in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer. However, she politely declined it because she was committed to Karan Johar for his first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

The actress said, “You should have done Mani sir’s film’. At that time, I felt that my commitment was more important, and it worked in my favour.” Kajol also said that she could see a big change in actors’ stardom after social media came into play.

She said, “Everything is on social media. Film stars no longer shine brightly in the sky, they now walk among us. They are now grounded people. That is the biggest change, I feel. In a way, it’s good. In a way, it’s something we have lost. It depends on how you look at it. As far as cinema goes, it will always be a reflection of society.”

Talking about Kajol, the actress was last seen in her first web series, The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhoka. She is reportedly a part of Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut film. Stay tuned for more updates!
