By India Today News Desk: Tina Dabi, Jaisalmer’s District Collector, has requested the Rajasthan government to put her on a non-field posting in Jaipur, as she is expecting her first child in September this year. She is set to proceed on maternity leave.

In a letter to the state government, Tina Dabi stated that being off the field would not put an excessive workload on her.

She also expressed the possibility of a transfer in the upcoming days. Until the transfer list is received and the formalities are completed, Tina Dabi will continue her work as the Jaisalmer Collector.

Tina Dabi made all necessary arrangements to move from Jaisalmer to Jaipur and is hopeful of receiving the transfer order within a couple of days.

The topper of the UPSC 2015 batch, Tina Dabi became the first female collector of Jaisalmer. She got married to IAS officer Pradeep Gawande in April last year.

The Collector has a large number of followers on social media.

Even in Jaisalmer, while serving as the Collector, she undertook several remarkable initiatives, such as organising a special campaign called “Jaisalmer Shakti Ladies First” for three months, to empower women and support their education by breaking various social barriers.

Last month, several elderly Pakistani women, who were displaced and were seeking resettlement, had blessed Tina Dabi with the hope of having a son.

Meanwhile, in response, Tina Dabi said that she did not differentiate between having a son or a daughter.
