iPhone 15 Pro renders shows the new Action button

Lately, rumours were rife that ‘Pro’ iPhone models will skip on the much-rumoured Action button and solid-state volume buttons. However, it seems like the iPhone 15 Pro models will come with the Action button, while the solid-switch volume button will be ditched this year for the traditional two-piece volume button.

The new CAD renders from 9to5Mac show off the iPhone 15 Pro with the rumoured Action button instead of the mute switch. The Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro is shown to have the same colour as the chassis, instead of being rumoured to be orange in colour, as the one on Apple Watch Ultra.

According to the rumours, it will function the same as the Apple Watch Ultra’s Action button, so the idea is that it can be programmed to do different tasks.

The new Action button will remain exclusive to the Pro models – iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The vanilla models – iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus – will stick to the old mute switch.

Meanwhile, the solid-state volume button, which would have been powered by a second Haptic Engine, has been shelved due to technical complexities. Now, the new renders show iPhone 15 Pro with the traditional mechanical volume buttons, with different pieces for up and down.

In the earlier renders, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max were shown to have large protruding camera modules. However, the new render suggests that the camera might not protrude as much as was expected before. Although, iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a slightly protruding camera module than the iPhone 15 Pro.

Apart from these changes, the renders show thinner bezels, little more rounded corners, and USB-C ports on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to launch later this year in September.
