Seven years of updates for Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro
Powering the two Pixel 8 phones is Google’s new Tensor G3 chip that comes paired with Titan M2 co-processor. Google says that the new chip has improved GPU, ISP, and NPU for better on-device processing for AI and camera chops.

Google will offer seven years of software updates for the Pixel 8 series, up from five years for the Pixel phones it released earlier. The software support includes security updates, feature drops, and Android updates, which means Pixel 8 should get until Android 21.

A 4575mAh battery backs up the Pixel 8 with support for up to 27W fast charging and 18W wireless charging. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro boasts a 5050mAH battery with up to 30W fast charging and wireless charging at up to 23W.

Improved cameras with a pinch of some little extra AI
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro packs in a new and improved main camera, which is a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor. Aside the main camera, the Pixel 8 Pro has a 48MP ultrawide and telephoto unit with 5x optical zoom and up to 30x Super Res zoom. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 has a 12MP ultrawide unit complementing the main camera. There is a temperature sensor on the Pro. Both the phones feature a 10.5MP selfie camera.

Apart from the updated camera hardware, Google is also infusing a little extra pinch AI into cameras. There is Magic Editor, which uses generative AI to just magically edit the photo, and Best Take, will select the best pose for you to choose so you do not look awkward. Not just that, but Google is also bringing Audio Magic Eraser to minimise background noises in videos. The Pro one is gaining Video Boost, Pro controls for photos and videos.

The Pixel 8 will be available in Obsidian, Hazel, and Rose colour options, while the Pixel 8 Pro will come in Obsidian, Porcelain, and Bay.
