NEW DELHI: External affairs minister on Thursday slammed Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in US and said that the Congress leader is “habitual of criticising the country”.
Addressing a press conference on nine years of Modi government, Jaishankar said that taking national politics out of the country is not in the national interest.
“Rahul Gandhi is habitual of criticising the country and making comments on our politics whenever he goes out of the country. The world is looking at us and what are they seeing? Elections are held, sometimes one party wins and some other times the other party wins. If there is no democracy in the country, such a change should not come,” he said.”Results for all elections should be the same. 2024 ka result toh wahi hoga, hamein pata hai. I have no objection to whatever he does inside the country but I don’t think taking national politics out of the country is in the national interest,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi who was in US recently repeatedly mocked the ruling BJP, specifically attacking Prime Minister Modi as a pretentious know-all who really does not understand India or the world.

Claiming that there is a “hidden undercurrent” building in India against the ruling BJP, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said that a “surprise” is in the offing the Lok Sabha election in 2024, indication of which was evident in the Congress victory in Karnataka which would be validated in upcoming assembly elections in several states.
