Here’s how you can enable Dolby Atmos audiobook streaming on the Audible app. Note that the feature is only available on select smartphones that support Dolby Atmos, and the library of audiobooks that support Dolby Atmos is also limited. With the latest Safari web browser, one can experience Audible on Dolby Atmos on iPhones, iPads, and Macs without downloading the app.
Devices that support Dolby Atmos on Audible
If you are an Apple user, then you are in luck. Most modern Apple products launched on or after the 7th Gen iPad support Dolby Atmos on Audible. Coming to iPhones, an iPhone XS or a newer model will also support Dolby Atmos playback, and it works when you pair your Apple device with the AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, or Beats Fit Pro, and it even supports Apple’s 3D head tracking.
Coming to Android devices, any smartphone with Dolby Atmos will be compatible. However, Google Pixel smartphones do not support this feature, and they only support Dolby Digital Plus. Similarly, you can also use this technology on Amazon’s Fire HD 10.
How to enable Dolby Atmos on Audible
Once you have a supported device, make sure to install the latest iteration of Audible and sign in using your Amazon credentials that have an Audible subscription. Right now, there are over 50 audiobooks that have been optimized for the Dolby Atmos format.
Open the app on your phone and search for Dolby Atmos, and the app will show all the titles. Select one and start playing. Note that there are no settings as such to enable Dolby Atmos on Audible. If you have a supported device, the app will automatically show the list of Dolby Atmos formatted audiobooks. However, make sure that the spatial audio option is enabled in the data and storage settings menu, and you can also enable the high-quality download option for a better offline audiobook listening experience.
