CUET UG 2023 Participating Universities: University of Hyderabad admissions, eligibility, cut-offs, hostels and more

The University of Hyderabad, Telangana will start its undergraduate admissions process from May 21. The admissions for 16 integrated courses will be done through Common University Admission Test (CUET). Currently, the University of Hyderabad offers courses in the field of Mathematics, Life Sciences, Humanities, Management Studies and Economics to name some.

The university has 12 schools — School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Chemistry, School of Humanities, School of Life Sciences and School of Economics to name some.

Duration of Programmes:

The university offers 16 programmes which would be conducted through CUET and the duration of each programme depends on it. The Integrated MSc Programme, which includes Mathematical Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Applied Geology, Optometry and Health Physiology is of five years or ten semesters. The Integrated MA programmes like Telugu, Hindi are also of 10 semesters or five years, but programmes like Integrated MA in Anthropolgy is a six semester or a three year programme.

Admissions to 16 integrated courses will be conducted through CUET this year. The programmes are:

Integrated MSc (Mathematical Sciences)

Integrated MSc (Physics)

Integrated MSc (Chemistry)

Integrated MSc (Biology)

Integrated MSc (Applied Geology)

Integrated MOptom. (Optometry)

Integrated MSc (Health Psychology)

Integrated MA (Telugu)

Integrated MA (Hindi)

Integrated MA (Language Sciences)

Integrated MA (Urdu)

Integrated MA (Economics)

Integrated MA (History)

Integrated MA (Political Science)

Integrated MA (Sociology)

Integrated MA (Anthropology)

Scholarships:

The scholarships are looked after by the Dean of Students’ Welfare. The university deals with scholarships in online mode and these are – Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF), National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes (NFOBC), Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for Students with Disabilities and Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences (SVSGC) to name some.

Hostels:

The university has 23 hostels that provide accommodation to more than 5,000 students from distant places and located in the North and South campuses for the convenience of the students. The hostel allotment process also takes into account the reservation process as per the university guidelines. Hostel facilities are not provided to the students residing in the municipality jurisdiction of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. 

University Ranking:

According to the National Institute of Ranking Framework 2022, the University of Hyderabad ranked 20th in the overall category and 10th in the university category.

History:

The University of Hyderabad was established in 1974 as a Central University by an Act of Parliament. The university was housed by The Golden Treshold and would function from there till it was moved to its present location.
