By India Today Sports Desk: Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming said on Sunday, April 30 that MS Dhoni hasn’t indicated anything about IPL 2023 potentially being his last season in the Indian Premier League. Fleming’s comments came after MS Dhoni received a rousing reception in CSK’s 4th home game of the season.

MS Dhoni has given hints about retirement, adding to the speculation around the much-talked-about topic, at various stages of IPL 2023. From joking about the call, saying it would put pressure on the coach, to getting emotional about the support that he has been receiving across the country from fans on IPL’s return to home-and-away format after 3 years, Dhoni has been stressing that he is in the twilight of his IPL career.

When thousands of Chennai fans turned up to greet him at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, MS Dhoni said he felt the crowd at the iconic venue was ‘trying to give him a farewell’. In one of CSK’s home games, MS Dhoni acknowledged that he is in the last phase of his career.

However, Dhoni has been in sensational form in IPL 2023, hitting as many as 8 sixes in just 35 balls he has faced in the season. The CSK captain has been striking at over 200 and he put on a late-order hitting show at Chepauk against Punjab Kings, hitting 2 sixes in the last two deliveries of CSK’s innings.

Dhoni finished with 13 from just 4 balls but it was not enough as CSK failed to defend 200 for the first time at home, thanks to sensational cameos from Prabhsimran Singh, Liam Livingstone, and Jitesh Sharma for PBKS.

“No, he hasn’t indicated anything,” Stephen Fleming said when he was asked if MS Dhoni had told him anything about retirement to him.

Chepauk has had its stands filled to the rafters in CSK’s home matches so far as fans have been coming in in huge numbers to catch a glimpse of MS Dhoni, who is into his 4th year in the IPL after announcing international retirement.

The support in Kolkata for MS Dhoni, which outpowered the home fans, showcased that fans across the country are keen on paying their tribute to the CSK captain.

CSK are in line to make the play-offs as they are at the 4th spot in the points table with 10 points from 9 matches.
