The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made it mandatory for schools seeking affiliation to submit drone videos of their infrastructure and facilities. The move aims to improve transparency and accountability in the process of granting affiliations.

In a recent circular, the CBSE said that the drone videos must cover the entire school campus, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and other amenities. The videos should also provide a clear view of the boundary walls, entrances, exits, and the surrounding areas.

The board has directed schools to hire a professional drone operator to capture high-quality footage and submit it along with their affiliation application. The videos should be in high definition (HD) format and must not be edited or manipulated in any way.

CBSE officials stated that the new requirement is aimed at ensuring that schools comply with the board’s norms and regulations. It will also help the board to verify the accuracy of the information provided by schools in their applications.

The move has received mixed reactions from school principals and education experts. Some welcomed the move, stating that it would enhance transparency and prevent schools from misrepresenting their facilities. Others, however, expressed concerns over the additional cost and logistical challenges of hiring a professional drone operator.

The CBSE has clarified that the new requirement will not apply to schools seeking renewal of their affiliation. Only new schools seeking affiliation will be required to submit drone videos.

The CBSE’s decision to mandate the submission of drone videos for school affiliation is a significant step towards improving transparency and accountability in the education system. While it may pose some challenges for schools, the benefits of ensuring compliance and accuracy in the affiliation process cannot be ignored.
