Google Discover is the company’s personalised cards that display a wide range of information like news, sports, weather and more. The company regularly revamps its interface and tests upcoming features in the beta channel. Continuing this process, after testing the feature a few months back, the tech giant is now rolling out AQI updates via a mini card for users on its app within the Discover page.
According to a 9To5Google report, once the feature is available on your device, the readings will be presented on the home screen of the Discover page on the Google app. You can also explore these details by searching in the app. The new card is available on the left side of the Discover home screen. It is currently available on iOS and Android devices.
The feature might not work on tablets and select foldable devices, like the Google Pixel Fold. Plus, the company has revamped the Customise menu with checkboxes rather than toggle switches inspired by the Material You design statement. This could be an attempt to maintain a uniform look across both OS platforms.
The news outlet first reported about the testing of the feature in August 2023. This feature will offer “air quality from your current location.” The App Store listing shared in the report displayed a glimpse of the feature in action. A numerical value is displayed next to a colour-coded status dot with the updated time.
These value changes are based on the location and time provided the smartphone is connected to the internet. For the unversed, Discover also offers mini cards for updates about weather, sports, finance and news. On a related note, the company is also testing the Google Discover support for desktops. This experiment is currently live in India for limited testers. You can read more on this update here.
