Major players like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Disney+ Hotstar are investing millions in offering extensive digital entertainment libraries and attracting more subscribers. Netflix subscription plans in India
Netflix has listed four subscription plans in India, starting at Rs 149 and going up to Rs 649. Each plan offers a different number of screens for simultaneous viewing.
Netflix Rs 149 mobile-only plan: Netflix has a special budget plan only for Indian users. As the name suggests, the plan only allows content to be viewed on only 1 screen at a time and only on smartphones or tablets. Further, the users can only stream content on 480p and requires Android OS devices 5.0 or higher, Fire OS devices 5.0 or higher, or iOS devices 12.0 or higher. The annual cost for this plan is Rs 1,788.
Netflix Basic Rs 199 plan: If you want to use Netflix on multiple devices like a tablet, computer or TV, the Rs 199 plan is a good option. It allows content to be viewed on 1 screen at a time in HD resolution with up to 720p resolution. The annual cost for this plan is Rs 2,388.
Netflix Standard Rs 499 plan: This plan allows content to be streamed on 2 devices simultaneously at 1080p Full HD resolution. Users can also download movies and TV shows on 2 supported devices at a time. The annual cost for this plan is Rs 5,988.
Netflix Premium Rs 649 plan: This is the most expensive monthly plan by Netflix in India. It’s a family plan that allows content to be streamed on 4 screens simultaneously in Ultra HD (4K) resolution. The plan also offers Netflix Spatial Audio support and the ability to download movies and TV shows on 6 devices at a time. The annual cost for this plan is Rs 7,788.
Amazon Prime subscription plans in India
Amazon India offers several Prime membership plans which include access to Amazon Prime Videos. Recently, the OTT platform has also revised and hiked its subscription prices. Here are the new listed pricing.
Amazon Prime monthly Rs 299 Plan: This is a monthly subscription model where users can pay the amount every month. That said, you still get all the benefits of Amazon Prime including free one or two-day deliveries, access to Amazon Prime Videos, Prime Music, special discounts, and more.
Amazon Prime quarterly Rs 599 Plan: This three-month subscription plan includes all the benefits of Amazon Prime such as Prime Music, special discounts, and free one or two-day deliveries. Compared to the monthly plan, you save Rs 78 per quarter with this plan.
Amazon Prime yearly Rs 1,499 Plan: It’s a yearly plan which includes all the benefits of Amazon Prime and offers savings of Rs 337 compared to the quarterly plan and Rs 649 compared to the monthly plan over a one-year period.
Amazon Prime Lite Yearly Rs 999 Plan: This yearly Lite plan includes most of the benefits of Amazon Prime except for the Amazon Music subscription but includes ads making it an affordable plan.
Amazon Prime Mobile Yearly Rs 599 Plan: In November 2022, Amazon launched a new Prime Video mobile Edition for Rs 599 per year. It offers fewer features compared to other plans and is limited to the standard resolution of 480p. The standard plan costs Rs 1,499 per year or Rs 129 per month and offers streaming content up to 4K. The mobile pack includes access to Amazon Originals, live cricket, Indian and international movies, X-ray powered by IMDb, and downloads for offline viewing. It costs Rs 900 less than the regular annual plan.
Amazon Prime membership benefits: Amazon Prime membership in India includes free same-day/1-day delivery on 40 lakh+ products, exclusive deals and early access to shopping events, unlimited access to movies & TV shows with Prime Video, ad-free music with Amazon Music, a selection of 3,000+ books with Prime Reading, and free in-game content with Prime Gaming.
Disney+ Hotstar subscription plans in India
Hotstar offers affordable subscription plans with access to the entire catalogue of content.
Disney+ Hotstar Free subscription: This is a free subscription with no charges. In free access, users can watch select movies and TV shows with ads. Users can also watch 5 minutes of live cricket streaming.
Disney+ Hotstar Premium monthly Rs 299 plan: This monthly plan offers access to all content including movies, TV shows, specials, and live sports. The movies and TV shows are ad-free (except sports). Users can also watch on up to 4 devices with up to 4K (2160p) resolution and Dolby 5.1 Audio.
Disney+ Hotstar Super Rs 899 per year plan: This plan offers all content including movies, TV shows, specials, and live sports. However, the content is ad-supported. You can watch on up to 2 devices with up to Full HD (1080p) resolution and Dolby 5.1 Audio.
Disney+ Hotstar Premium Rs 1499 per year plan: This annual plan offers all content including movies, TV shows, specials, and live sports. The movies and TV shows are ad-free (except sports). You can watch on up to 4 devices with up to 4K (2160p) resolution and Dolby 5.1 Audio.
